Amongst those attending the official party up at the dam itself were Les Munro, the sole surviving pilot who flew on the mission. Richard Todd OBE, actor, who played Wing Commander Guy Gibson VC in the film, The Dam Busters. It is interesting to note that Richard Todd himself saw active service during WWII. He served in the King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry and as a paratrooper in the British 6th Airborne Division.

The video footage was taken from New Road overlooking the village of Bamford. The Ladybower and Derwent Dams are to the right of the scene. Distant shots include the villages of Hope and Castleton with Lafarge's Cement Works. A close up scene shows the crowds that viewed the event from Win Hill. Apologies for the sound quality there seems to be a conflict between the clip transitions and the sound track. The sound quality of the SD5 is always suspect. Must get an stand alone sound recorder.

The weather conditions and the nature of the event prevented any aerial activity by kiteneedless to say!
