This loosely covers all the bits that either activate the camera or as will be in the future, any radio control equipment or video downlinks.
In the meantime the only bit of such equipment made was to utilise a garage door/key fob transmitter to activate an intervalometer on the camera. It will, depending on how I power the system up either trigger the shutter at regular intervals or wait until I press the key fob transmitter, where upon it will take a picture. The connection to the camera was an adapted serial cable made by James Gentles. We are not all electronics experts and I do advise you to consider using James’s equipment. As with some of the stuff I have bought they can be purchased from Peter Bults’ site. The KAP Shop.
Using my current set up I only use the intervalometer mode. The reasons being I have no need to frame a picture as the camera points permanently down and takes a circular image, memory for a digital camera is relatively cheap and a half meg chip last awhile. While I’m learning the camera does its own thing and I concentrate on flying and getting the camera into a good position.
