Not a camera in sight here. I first did this in 1996. It shows what you you can do with a little thought.

While playing around with the resulting images I wondered if you could use the format and this is the result. Depending on the projection it is very easy to put in the top and bottom views. I used Photo Vista v1.0 to produce this as you can convert very easily between the different projections. I started with a cylinder to assemble the art work and text, then to a cubic projection to give me the top and bottom and then converted it to a sphere. This can be done in Pano Tools as well although I’ve never done it.
