The Speleo - ROV is based on the SeaFox design. The intention is to use the craft to explore disused flooded mine shafts and adits in the UK. Cave systems can be explored too.

Amateur built ROVs are not new by any means but I hope to replicate a reasonable example. The idea is to keep everything simple to start with and develop as the project goes on.

There is a wealth of information on the web relating to ROVs which can be viewed on the links page. I shall record my endeavours here and hopefully show the results of any exploration attempts.

Why? Following an Aditnow visit to Rhiwbach Slate Mine in North Wales I attempted with the help of Vanoord (fellow explorer) to dangle lights and a camera down a flooded adit. The results were encouraging. Prior to this John Barnatt from the PDMHS had given me the opportunity to do similar things at Ecton Mines but equipment failure and murky water hampered things. Now with excellent practical experience from Steve Thone and others it becomes a reality.
